How much is Qurbani in Pakistan?
With Al Mustafa Welfare Trust, Qurbani in Pakistan costs £xx. Our £20 Qurbani provides nutritious meat to families most in need around the world. Each £20 Qurbani provides enough meat for a family to enjoy across the blessed days of Eid ul Adha.
How much is Qurbani per family?
Qurbani should be paid for by all Muslim adults, who are sane and eligible to pay Zakat. This means Qurbani is an individual responsibility. With Al Mustafa Welfare Trust, Qurbani for those most in need costs just £20 per person. This means, if there are four adults in your family, the total Qurbani requirement for the family would be £80.
Is Qurbani farz (obligatory) or sunnah?
Once our beloved Prophet (SAW) was asked, what is Qurbani? The Prophet (saw) answered: ‘It is the Sunnah of your father Ibrahim (as). For every hair of the Qurbani you receive a reward from Allah (swt).' [Tirmidhi]
Qurbani is considered as a sunnah, which means those who perform it are rewarded, while it is not a sin for those who do not. A lot of scholars believe that it is wajib upon all those who are eligible to give Zakat (that own wealth above the value of the nisab).
Can we give money instead of Qurbani?
In order to fulfil the sunnah of our beloved forefather, Ibrahim (as), an animal must be sacrificed.
Qurbani is a religious sacrifice of an animal, following in the footsteps of our beloved Prophet Ibrahim (as) and his ultimate devotion to Allah (swt). The Qurbani is made after the Eid ul Adha prayers, across the three days of Eid.
Money given cannot equate to the act of Qurbani itself, which includes the sacrifice of an animal and the distribution of meat among the vulnerable.
This command comes from the selfless sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (as).
It is reported in The Holy Quran that Prophet Ibrahim (as) had a vivid dream where he was being commanded to sacrifice his son, Ismail (as) for the sake of Allah (swt). Prophet Ibrahim (as) was deeply shaken and upset by this vivid dream, which he believed to be a command from Allah. Ismail (as) was extremely precious to Prophet Ibrahim (as). When he shared this vision with his son, Ismail (as) said: "O my father! Do as you are commanded: you will find me, if Allah so wills, one practicing patience and constancy."
When Prophet Ibrahim (as) carried out the commandment, Allah (swt) replaced Ismail (as) with a ram.
