Who is elegible for zakat?

Who is eligible for Zakat?

Zakat should only be given to the poor, those less fortunate in the necessities of life. Zakat rules are simple, you cannot give zakat to a family member. However, the amount of zakat you calculate can go to the less fortunate, anywhere in this world. People who are eligible for zakat include orphans, people of conflict and the ones that their homes were destroyed due to natural disasters.

Zakat is due every year, and depending on your income and savings

Why is zakat important?

Zakat is important as it holds the third pillar of Islam. Without completing this pillar you’re not considered a Muslim and you’ll not be amongst the ones set free from the fires of hell. The importance of zakat is considered large as it is a way of cleansing your soul from any sin and a way of being freed from any punishments on judgement day.

When is zakat due?

Zakat is due every year, and depending on your income and savings, how much you have to pay always varies. In some cases, you may not have to pay zakat if your finances went down and you’re out of savings or other assets. If you need any guidance as to when and how much you need to give, there is an accurate zakat calculator at the top of our web page. Along with a page with more information on zakat calculator UK.
